Royal chess for four players

Royalsjakk (“Royal chess) is a modern chess game for 4 players, invented by the Norwegian Rolf Westrum. It has been played during a few years, and will now be officially (re-)introduced at our festival: on Monday 18 April at 1230.During the festival everybody will be have good opportunities to both play and compete at this very social chess variant.

All this playing and participation wil be free of charge, and with awarding of some prizes. Rolf Westrum himself will be present to give information and some assistance to new players.

The playing rules are very similar to ordinary chess, but with a few practical details.

There will be one “Royal chess tournament” for couples (two players’ teams) and one individual with each player handling pieces of two colours.

The game is sold through the Norwegian chess shop Sjakkbutikken (Norsk Sjakkforlag).
